Maison Albert Bichot - Bourgogne : 2020
The 2020 vintage was 'canicular', which means that a heat wave in the summer resulted in very limited harvests, and that there was 'millerandage', a potential viticultural hazard problem due to which grape bunches contain berries of different sizes, as well as very small berries with a high sugar concentration, making them susceptible to possible overheating of any sensitive spots. Its most common cause is cold, rainy or otherwise bad weather during the flowering stage of the vines, though other factors such as boron deficiency or fanleaf degeneration may also play a role. As a result, the harvest of 2020 is even smaller than that of 2019, even though many people claim that 2020 is a great vintage. It was feared that the wines would lack acids, but that is not the case.
The very limited returns cause a significant price increase in the 2020 vintage (while older vintages on the market are also increasing in price due to the successive small harvests in recent years). In addition, the volume for 2021 is expected to be the smallest ever made.
It is therefore very important to subscribe to the wines of the 2020 vintage in advance. This allows you to enjoy a 5% pre-order discount and, after advance payment, it is ensured that you will receive the reserved wines for your cellar. The actual delivery is scheduled for October of this year.
