Focus on Bordeaux 2019, great quality at low prices, a rarity in Bordeaux
The climate in Bordeaux in 2019 ensured that the four requirements for a great vintage were met.
1. A homogeneous and rapid (within 2 weeks) blossoming in a dry, warm climate (June).
2. A drought stress that progressively occurred in the very dry and warm month of July, which stopped the growth of the greens (the branches) completely so that the plant could spend its energy on the colouration of the berries.
3. An optimal ripening of the different grape varieties without resuming the growth of the greens.
4. Beautiful weather, moderately warm with little rainfall during the harvest, managing to bring in everything ripe, with little rotting and without losing any aromas.
The main characteristic of Bordeaux 2019 is that all wines have a homogeneous richness of fruit, are juicy, and filled with energy. Nothing tastes bloated or stewed, and nothing is marked by the heat! All of this in combination with a very fine tannin structure, almost like silk. The very rich and voluminous merlots were perfectly balanced by the ripe and fresh cabernets. This is what gave the wines their very complex and delicious character.
