Saint Emilion Grand Cru
This chateau used to be called Rol de Fombrauge
until 2006. Then it got the name Ch. Louis, which was an excellent idea. Many
people buy this wine because their son or grandson is called Louis (just like
my son). This wine is of such a high quality that you can easily keep it for 15
years! The terroir of 8ha in St. Christophe de Bardes (St. Emilion) is situated
on the slope and on the plateau, perfectly situated. The composition of this
soil is the perfect clay-lime combination and the vines have a beautiful
average age of 60 years! Besides, the density of the plantings was raised to
8300 vines per hectare, the vinification material was entirely renewed and more
new oak is used (60%). Stéphane Derenoncourt is the adviser. The production is
very limited: 7200 bottles for the first wine and 2400 bottles for the second
wine. Be quick!
