2019Château de Pressac(Red)
Chateau de
Pressac is one of the most ‘post- medieval’ castles of Saint Emilion. It is
situated on a slope top in the village Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, not far from Ch.
Faugères. The cru is owned by the Quenin family since 1997. They have saved
cost, nor effort to raise to quality to the top. They invested in the vineyard
and the chai, where small, new steel cuvees (40 to 60 hl) allow parcel
vinification. It is remarkable that the vineyard, which is situated on slopes
and a sort of ‘stairs’ against the slope, is treated by hand and is very
qualitative. The award came with the new ranking in 2012 where Ch. Pressac was
promoted to St. Emilion Grand Cru Classé (before Grand Cru). This is thanks to
the beautiful quality of the wines from the last 10 years. The wines are
powerfully framed (without being too rustic) and are full, round and provided with
lots of fruit. The price remains reasonable. Hubert de Bouard is the advisor.
