2020Château De La Roulerie(White)

Château de la Roulerie is situated in Saint Albin de Luigné (Loire) in the Layon region. The building goes back to the 19th century, but there are also signs that go back to the 14th century. Nowadays, the surface has 42 hectares (about 30ha chenin and 12ha cabernet franc) planted on stone inclines (schist soils, what declares the minerality in the wine). Today, Philippe Germain runs the property. The philosophy of the owner is to offer a quality as high as possible for the best price. He switched to biodynamical agriculture, uses little sulphur and he bottles in a sterile atmosphere to give more ‘peps’ and vivacity to his wines. The berries are harvested by hand and the vinification is done in a cellar where he vinifies to the principles of gravity, this means the berries are not pumped into the cuvees, they fall in the cuvee without any stress, to maintain vivid fruit for the wine.
