Ch. Cos d’Estournel
is a 2nd Grand Cru Classé that deserves its title. It is seen as one of the
greatest Grand Cru Classés from Médoc after the Premier Grand Cru Classés. It
combines power with elegance and sensual softness. Great millésimes can be
stored for 20 years. The domain belongs to Michel Reybier since 2000. Mr
Reybier is also known for his luxury hotels in Dubai, where one receives a
small bottle of Cos d’Estournel when booking the suite. There is also a luxury
hotel in St. Estèphe. Aymeric de Gironde became director in 2013 after
Jean-Guillaume Prat was replaced. The chateau has an ultra-modern vinification
system using the principles of gravity. The price seems high at first sight,
but the quality is excellent (can be compared to Ch. Lafite Rotschild and Ch.
Mouton Rotschild). Taking this into account, the price can be interesting.
