Ch. Olivier was
classified for both red and white wine in 1953 thanks to its top terroir. However,
the quality of the wine was rather average for a long time. Thanks to the owner
Jean-Jacques de Bethmann, a huge investment plan was set in 2004. A new
director (Laurent Lebrun) carried out a soil study to be able to work parcel by
parcel and to coordinate the grapes with the terroir. A new cuverie, a search for
perfect ripeness and severe selections are aspects that make the quality much
higher than before, still for a reasonable price.
