Sauternes 2nd Cru Classé
This cru belongs to
the Dubourdieu family. Unfortunately, the professor Denis Dubourdieu, who had
brought this cru to the top (thanks to the concentrated fresh style), died in
2016. His son Jean-Jacques, who during a period of 10 years learnt the
techniques and secrets, now continues his
father’s lifework together with his brother. This transition was
spotless because of the good quality of the wines from the Dubourdieu family
(also see Clos Floridène red and white in the Graves region). This Sauternes
deserves a higher ranking than the Second Grand Cru Classé. The price always
stays reasonable. In 2013 the family bought their neighbour Ch. Doisy Dubroca
to expand the vineyard to its original size. Why would you even hesitate to buy
this pearl?
