This magnificent cru from St. Estèphe was property of Mrs. Capbern Gasqueton. After she died in 2012, the chateau was sold to the insurance company Crédit Mutuel Suravenir for a huge amount. Laurent Dufau (ex-trainee at Ch. Lafite Rotschild and working at the trader Ballande et Meneret) was recruited as manager while Vincent Millet stayed technical director. Huge works started immediately, including a plan for replanting with more cabernet sauvignon than before. This terroir seemed to be more convenient for this grape variety. The cuverie was also renewed. In 2015, there was a new label and the capsules and cases were restyled to express the new qualitative style to wine lovers. Ch. Calon Ségur is a real cabernet sauvignon with finesse without arrogance. The elegance is in the purity of the taste and the delicacy of the structure. It has a very good storage potential.
