This soil structure stimulates the water regulation and the depth of the root of the vine. These aspects contribute to an intense taste and a better resistance in dry times. Thanks to the waving of the terroir and the excellent southern exposition, the berries are always ripe very early which is good for the precocious merlot. The quality of this terroir gives a perfectly ripe merlot with an extraordinary opulence and an inimitable finesse. However, the yields are very low (26hl/ha) and there are only a few bottles. Be very quick! La Mondotte was also promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé B in 2012 because of its exceptional quality.
