Chateau Trotte Vieille is one of the most beautiful castles situated on the plateau of St. Emilion (no so far from Ch. Troplong Mondot) with a vineyard of 12ha. It belongs to the merchant Borie-Manou (Castéja family). The name comes from (according to a legend) an old lady (vieille) who passed by the estate every day (en trottinant) to hear the daily rumors. Philippe Castéja is now the director. The plantings are very original: 50% merlot and 50% cabernet franc. The cru is very classic and powerful in its youth. The wine has a beautiful, fresh, pure and fruity style with a good storage potential.
