Saint Emilion Grand Cru
In 2011, the owners of Ch. Haut Brion (Dom.
Clarence Dillon) bought Château Tertre Daugay which is situated on the lime
plateau in the south-east of St. Emilion. They renamed the chateau and vinified
their first millésime. In October 2013 they also bought the neighbour: Ch.
l’Arrosée. Both terroirs were merged and are now sold under the name Ch.
Quintus. The name comes from the Latin word ‘fifth’, because it’s the fifth
wine they produce (after Ch. Haut Brion red and white and Ch. Mission Haut
Brion red and white). The terroir of 28ha contains vines with an average age of
30 years and consists of lime and clay-lime. It is surrounded by 5 great crus
from St. Emilion, which proves the exceptional quality. A double selection,
also with optical eye, ensures a very clear and ripe harvest. A special bottle
with the logo burnt on it (refers to the style of the oldest bottles of Ch. Haut
Brion) is used for the bottling.
