The vineyard next to ‘La Mondotte’ of Stephan von Neippberg and ‘Troplong Mondot’ in fact belongs to Ch. Pavie Décesse, but the situation is not so perfect, so Gérard Perse decided to vinify a separate wine. The wine is sold as a St. Emilion Grand Cru while it could compete with Premier Grand Cru Classés. The terroir is 80 meters above the Dordogne, situated in full sun on a clay-lime soil which gives a very good water regulation and optimal maturation for the merlot grapes. Green harvest, first leaf removal on the sunset side half August, manual harvest, low yields of 16hl/ha) and maturation on 100% new oak barrels makes of this wine a very rare top-quality wine with only 2ha of vineyard.
