The vineyard of Ch. Mazeyres is situated on a beautiful gravel/sand ridge with a subsoil of gravel/clay. Another part is situated on the plateau of Catusseau and is made up of sand with a subsoil of molasse and the famous ‘crasse de fer’ (= iron deposit). A third, new terroir of 4ha has been added. It consists of gravel/clay where cabernet franc and petit verdot give an extra dimension to the wine. Director Alain Moueix tries to make a Pomerol with incredible purity, depth, fullness and freshness in combination with refined tannins and a beautiful length, according to the biological principles (first time bio-certified in 2015).
