The château belongs to the Lucien Lurton family
since 1971. Since 1992 it is one of his 10 children, the youngest, Bérénice Lurton
that has taken the lead. The cru has an excellent lime soil and is still called
‘Seigneur de Barsac’. A typical aspect of Climens is that it is made of 100%
sémillon and that it has a rare aromatic complexity with an exceptional
freshness thanks to its terroir. The quality comes close to Ch. d’Yquem’s
quality. Bérénice decided to change over to biodynamic viniculture in 2010.
2014 is the first vintage of Ch. Climens according to this principle. This implies that all the chemical products
are replaced by natural production and teas. The purpose was to protect the
nature but also to restore the natural balance of the vineyard to express the
qualities of the unique terroir.
