This cru was once bought by Jean Gautreau in difficult
times (1696), when investing in wine domains was doomed to ‘lose all your
money’, the situation was that bad. Jean Gautreau did start (trader at the
time) a small vineyard of 5ha next to the Gironde with no money. He slowly
built a domain of 95ha. Jean Gautreau discovered the beautiful terroirs and
bought them step by step. He successfully sold his wine, with Belgium being a
big sales market. Unfortunately, he died on 1st November 2019 at the
age of 92 years. Today, his daughter Sylvie continues her father’s work in the
same good and qualitative manner.
